An incredibly rich, thick, and creamy chocolate mousse made with just a few simple ingredients. This sugar-free, keto-friendly dessert comes together in only 5 minutes for the ultimate quick and satisfying treat.

Ingredients

Scale

1 1/2 cups heavy cream OR 1 can full-fat coconut milk (solid cream only)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp Dutch-process or additional regular cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar-free sweetener of choice (e.g., monk fruit blend)
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
1/4 tsp instant coffee granules (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill a large mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. If using coconut milk, use only the thick solid cream from the top of a refrigerated can.
  2. Pour the cold cream or coconut cream into the chilled bowl. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.
  3. Reduce mixer speed to low. Add the cocoa powders, sweetener, vanilla, and instant coffee (if using).
  4. Increase speed to medium and whip until fully combined and a smooth, thick mousse texture forms. Do not over-whip.
  5. Spoon immediately into a serving dish. Enjoy as is or chill for 30-60 minutes for a firmer set.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure all ingredients and equipment are very cold.
  • Sift cocoa powder and sweetener together to avoid lumps.
  • Sweetener can be adjusted to taste. Powdered sweeteners work best for smoothness.
  • For a dairy-free version, ensure you use only the solid coconut cream, not the watery liquid.
